Terrell Owens’ Postgame Press Conference Video

Filed under: News, NFL — Drew @ 10:57 pm

As you have seen, Terrell Owens was pretty emotional after the Dallas Cowboys lost to the New York Giants in the Divisional round of the NFL playoffs. I am a big T.O. fan. This video has been the source of many jokes today, but it just makes me that much more of a fan. I’m fortunate enough to have the NFL Network and watched the press conference live. The passion that he has for the game is very rare amongst all of these highly paid prima donnas that suit up each Sunday. Good luck next year T.O. You deserve a Championship.

NFL Network Reveals The Truth Behind the Romo-Simpson Trip to Mexico

Filed under: News, NFL — Drew @ 7:03 pm

The biggest story this week coming out of Dallas has been the infamous Tony Romo - Jessica Simpson trip to Mexico while most thought Romo should be preparing for his matchup against the Giants. As you can see in the clip, even as recent as this morning, this was still a topic of discussion.

I heard the truth during an interview on NFL Network between Deion Sanders and T.O. (T.O. always manages to get into a story.) Do you remember a few weeks ago when T.O. made those comments about Jessica Simpson affecting Tony Romo’s play during the Eagle game? Afterwards, T.O. apologized and as a show of kindness, he paid for the couple to go to Mexico this past week. Well, there you go. If Tony Romo has a bad game, the blame is on T.O. and not Jessica Simpson. LOL. How ironic would that be?

Blowout or upset. That will probably summarize the Jags-NE game. One thing is certain, if the Patriots win the Super Bowl, this will be the best season ever for a team, by far. They finished the regular season undefeated facing a difficult schedule and will have to played the Hot Jags, probably the Colts again and the best of the NFC. Wow!

Maybe if the Lions complete their collapse, we can trade draft picks for a miracle. With Kevin Jones and Roy Williams already planning their exodus, I have no idea when we will get to being a respectable team. This was supposed to be the year. It started off very nice, but we all know where it has gone.

4 Observations from Week 15 + 1 pat on the back

Filed under: NFL — Drew @ 8:23 pm
  1. First off, congrats to the Dolphins for their first win of the season.
  2. Why was Brian Billick given passage to coach next season? I can think of a number of reason why he should be fired. 1) He lost to the lowly Miami Dolphins, 2) He continues to play Kyle Boller even though Troy Smith seems to bring a spark to the offense when he enters the game and 3) What happened to him being an offensive genius? The Ravens have been mediocre at best during his tenure and Marvin Lewis was as much a reason for the Super Bowl win as Billick.
  3. I have seen several instances where a team calls timeout to decide whether or not to challenge the previous play. This happened during this past weekend’s Eagles-Cowboys game. When will coaches learn that it makes more sense to just throw the flag than to call timeout. If you call timeout and then challenge, but lose the challenge, then you lose two timeouts. Whereas if you just throw the flag, you lose, at most, one timeout. Sounds simple to me.
  4. I still believe that the Packers are the best team in the NFC. After Sunday’s loss by the Cowboys and their struggles against my Lions, they are starting to look eerily like last year’s one and down Cowboys.
  5. It has been reported on ESPN a few times over the past 24 hours that the Falcons and Dolphins are courting Bill Parcells to join their respective front offices. Excuse me, but I have long sense made this recommendation. Only, in my story, he goes to the Lions.

Oh well for the big Steelers upset of the Patriots. I am now a believer. 16-0 is oh so nice, but even still they are not dominate enough to be deemed the best team of all time.

Is Michael Vick’s prison sentence too severe?

Filed under: News, NFL — Drew @ 12:49 am

Michael Vick

I understand that dog fighting is illegal and I am not condoning Vick’s actions, but 23 months is an awful long time for this crime in my opinion. There appears to be far too much subjectiveness in our judicial systems. During this whole situation, I have read Vick’s possible sentence being anywhere from no jail time to 5 years. That’s a fairly large amount of “wiggle room” to basically take away a person’s life as we know it. Again, I am not condoning Vick’s actions, but it seems like we are putting an animal or animals in this case, above a human life.

We live in a society with many contradictions. PETA put forth a concerted nationwide effort to voice their displeasure with Michael Vick, but at the same time, ESPN boasts a headline in which a 5 year old killed a 400 pound bear and he becomes a television star on his local news channel. Bears, Deer, Elk, etc. are routinely killed just to be mounted on someones wall or used as a funny looking rug as in the case of the ESPN story. How are those for contradictions? In my opinion, there’s a fine line between punishing a criminal and criminal punishment. The question is which side of the line is this 23 month sentence?
