Try being an Atlanta Falcons fan. For one brief moment, the Falcons with Mike Vick were good but, year after year after year, Falcons fans have been let down. They drafted Brett Favre, had him for one lousy year, gave him to Green Bay, Brett turned into Brett. That's the perfect example of the Falcon's condition. You always know that - however bright the future looks - that light at the end of the tunnel is an oncoming freight train. Bad drafts, bad players, bad coaches, bad team strategy, bad game plans, bad owners, bad fans, bad city, bad luck. I remember years ago going to a late-season Falcons game where we walked up to a scalper a few minutes before kickoff and bought three 16th row seats on the 40 for $85. Not $85 each - $85 total. 14,000 people showed up and only maybe a few hundred were wearing red and black. Pre-Vick and now post-Vick, Falcons fans at the half-filled Dome are outnumbered by the visitors fans. Every year, I swear I am done being a masochist and am finding a new team to root for but somehow a little ember of hope lives on.
