I believe that Tim Tebow has been the unquestioned best player in college football this year. He should not be penalized just because he is an underclassman. Look at his stats: 3100+ passing yards, 29 passing TDs, 800+ rushing yards and 22 rushing TDs. He was the leading rusher on the team. I can barely produce this type of season by playing NCAA football on the playstation. Granted I suck at video games, but you get my point. This is an insane stat line against top notch competition.
True, the Gators lost 3 games, but look at the opponents LSU (BCS #2), Georgia (BCS #5) and Auburn (BCS #23). If you are looking for team success, the only players which have more team success and a notable season are fellow finalists Colt Brennan and Chase Daniel, but there stats aren’t as nearly as mind blowing as Tebow’s stats. Brennan’s schedule is no comparison to Tebow’s SEC matchups and Daniel laid an egg in both of his matchups against Oklahoma.
If you are looking for the best pro prospect, at this point in time, without a question that person is Darren McFadden. I think McFadden can possibly have an Adrien Peterson type of impact in the NFL if he lands to the right situation. The Heisman Trophy is about honoring the player having the best(individual and team) college season, and given this wacky college season, that person should be none other than Mr. Tebow.
