Thankfully, a friend of mine introduced me to Survival Football last year. I loved the concept and being a football junkie, I jumped at the chance to play. The season went well, I finished tied and thus split the prize. For those of you that are not familiar with Survival or Survivor Football, here is a quick overview.
Each week everyone in the league picks a team that they believe will win. If your team wins, you live to pick the following week, but if your team loses, you’re out. (Some leagues allow you to buy back in if you lose the first week.) This continues each week until there is one player remaining. Unless multiple players lose during the last week. In that case, the players usually just split the prize. The catch to this Pick’em game is that you can only choose a team once during the course of the season. So, if you pick the Colts for Week 1, then you cannot pick the Colts for the rest of the season. This makes for some very interesting strategy. My friends and I are using Yahoo’s Survival Football site.
I am in 3 different leagues. You can guess that if my team loses, I am shot in each league. I have a feeling that I will make the same pick for each location. Do you see any flaws with this tactic? Anyway, for Week 1 I picked the Steelers to demolish, I mean beat the Browns. Needless to say I survived Week 1. I’ll give you one guess as to which team I am picking for Week 2. I’ll let you in on my strategy, but you have to keep it a secret. OK, here you go. Take a look at an NFL schedule. Find the Browns. Look at their opponent and make the selection. Pretty simple, eh. LOL. The Browns look like an all around bad team. Of course they will win, but hopefully it won’t be this week. Go Cincy!!!
For those of you that are in a Survival Football league, who are you picking for Week 2?

Looks like you had a short survival football season this year.

LOL. Short doesn’t even begin to describe it.
